There are a number of specialist agencies that offer assistance to blind and partially sighted people starting up new businesses. We have listed some of them below and are always pleased to hear from new organisations who would like to be listed.
Gardner's Trust for the Blind
Will consider applications for up to £300 from people requiring assistance with the purchase of equipment or the cost of training. They can be contacted by telephone on 0207 253 3757.
In partnership with companies, voluntary and public sector organisations, Leonard Cheshire provides clients with training via a virtual college on the internet.
The programme is open to disabled people, aged between 19 and 60 years, who are unemployed and actively seeking employment. Training and equipment are provided free to students - only delivery costs and telephone calls to the internet need to be paid for. All clients have the services of a computer volunteer to provide support in the process.

A national charity that provides training and work opportunities for people who are disadvantaged in the workplace due to disability, ill health or other social circumstances.
ADP works to improve the education rehabilitation, training and employment opportunities available to disabled people and provides a help-line for individuals seeking support.
