BBACT supports individuals running a broad range of businesses and we would like to expand this page to include as many links as possible to other websites for businesses that are run by entrepreneurs who are blind or partially sighted.
We have categorised businesses in order to make it easier to find the one you want so please do take a look.

Business and Management services

Brendan Magill runs an employment and disability consultancy, offering a range of support services to people who are disabled and in or aspiring to be in employment or self-employment. These include Access to Work assessment, training and support, business start-up and development support and a wide range of additional work related services. Although he works with a very diverse range of disabilities, he has a special interest in the work needs of people who are vision impaired similarly, although he works with many different employment scenarios, he has special interest and expertise in the field of self-employment and small enterprise.
Rick Williams is a visually impaired self-employed management training consultant. He provides a wide range of services aimed at helping organisations develop their effectiveness, with particular emphasis on how they relate to people with disabilities - whether employees, customers or members of the public.

Design and Stationery  

At Hand Creations create and produce visual/technical items that Promote the Christian message "The kingdom of God is AT HAND" (Mark 1:15). Their creations are helping churches and individuals connect the Good News with people's lives today.
GWR Design and Illustration is run by Geoff who produces the standard range of business stationary including leaflets, business cards, booklets etc. He can print to many surfaces offering a range of personalised and promotional items from corporate Christmas cards, coasters, mouse mats and calendars to t-shirts and work wear. He also produces his own artwork from pencil sketches, pen & ink work and photographs as well as providing a print to canvas service for other artists.
Paper Moon undertake a range of activities including:  Desktop Publishing, Printing & Electronic Documents, Website Design & Creation,  Invoice & Statement Production, Correspondence & Other Office services.

Information and Technology services  

Adaptive Technology Solutions mission is to provide independence, through empowerment and inclusion, to visually impaired people in an ever increasing age of technology, innovations and legislative requirements, by the provision of advice and consultancy on adaptive or assistive software and hardware. Additionally, they offer a service through the sale of requested or recommended products and any subsequent training.
Aspire Consultancy  is an independent company providing a quality advice, assessment and training service on all aspects of access technology for visually impaired people. They serve both corporate and private clients across the North of England, Scotland and other areas.
Their training service includes training on; mainstream software packages, internet and e-mail solutions. They also supply of desktop and laptop computer systems tailored to the
needs of the individual.
Azzabat provides a number of services and products to benefit both visually impaired and sighted people. They include transcription services, JAWS for windows training plus audio games and Braille greetings cards.
Choice Technology and Training provide afordable Screenreaders for people who have difficulty seeing or reading. They offer training and helpful advice and sell a full range of disability access solutions.
Raised Bar assists manufacturers, educationalists and visually impaired musicians
By promoting and providing accessibility services for music and music production.
Riverside Training Partnership offer one-to-one training throughout the UK in the workplace or in a clients home. As a less expensive alternative, they also offer telephone training. Other services include Access to work Assessments and they deliver these for a number of employment services throughout the UK.
U Can Do I.T. is a charity devoted to teaching Internet skills to disabled people, at affordable cost. Any person  who has the appropriate equipment at home and wishes to learn how to use the web to best effect, can apply for a low-cost training course

Performance Artists

Joanne Newson-Hatcher  Is an Actress and singer. She is also available to undertake teaching work, role play,  voice-overs and corporate work.
Pascal's Triangle was founded by Steve Holtz and they write, produce and record their own music and have two CD albums for sale, which can be ordered from their website.  They are also available for bookings at hotels, weddings, private parties, etc.  In addition, Steve is available for solo piano work, performing a mixture of Classical, Jazz and Pop music.

Transcription services  

Brian Lewis provides a transcription service, at extremely competitive prices, for anyone who needs documents converted to Braille, moon, audio or large print. He is also able to create tactile diagrams in A4 or A3 format and specialises in the production of work in other European languages.

Leisure

KARA Expeditions is owned by Charlotte Bowen and is a water based expedition company.  She runs accessible kayak, canoe and rafting expeditions all over the world.  Whether you have never been in a kayak before, keen to learn the latest freestyle moves, run some new rivers, or just want a unique trip of a lifetime then there is something here for you.
Traveleyes is run by Amar Latif and is a travel company with a difference. It aims to provide holidays for both blind/visually impaired and sighted travellers, journeying together in a spirit of mutual independence. It offers the customer flexibility in world travel to a variety of destinations that was previously unavailable or certainly very difficult to arrange for the blind/visually impaired. Health and well being

Health and Well Being Coaching aims to help you overcome a range of issues affecting your life. Run by Jackie it offers an enjoyable and exciting way for you to move forward in any area. She enables you to realise your potential and takes you from where you are to where you want to be.

Disability awareness and Descrimination

Disability Awareness Advice & Training provide advice to the many questions asked by business owners. They will research your company and advise you of any changes that should be made in order to conform with the new Disability Discrimination Act.
Open eyed serves as a one-stop-shop to the public and private sector, offering a wide range of accessibility services. It’s owned by Steph who is a popular writer and professional speaker who is regularly requested to write and speak on the subject of diversity and on her personal experience from fashion designer, through sight loss, to business owner.
Philip Congrieve offers Disability Equality Training to businesses, charities and service providers together with information about accessible facilities and services for the benefit of disabled people. Businesses which have made “reasonable adjustments” are invited to advertise their accessible facilities and services on the site
