How you can help us

In order to provide the assistance and undertake activities   described on this site, BBACT relies upon the help and support of its partners and friends. All our funds are either raised through projects or are kindly donated as gifts or through sponsorship and without these contributions; we would be unable to support those blind and partially sighted people wishing to use our services.

If you would like to assist BBACT by contributing to our work, there are a number of ways you can do so.

  • By making a donation through our web page at justgiving.co.uk/bbact
  •  By forwarding a Cheque payable to BBA Charitable Trust  to postal address BBACT, 29 Quantock Rise, Shepshed, Leicestershire LE12 9JR
  • By Direct bank Transfer - just contact Penny on 0845 0450696 for details.
  • Or by raising funds on our behalf - for ideas see our Fund-raising ideas page.

Please be assured, we are extremely grateful for all help that we receive no matter how big or small.

Why we need your help!

Being Blind or Partially Sighted does not mean you can’t or don’t want to work, yet for more than 80% of people affected, employment is simply not a reality. Most employers still lack the confidence and knowledge to engage visually impaired employees and people who've been in work all their lives and unexpectedly suffer loss of vision often lose their job as well. Just because someone is know longer able to see however, it doesn’t mean they can’t continue to work and play an active part within their community. Starting a business is often the only route available and BBACT clients run a range of successful and varied enterprises.

(BBACT) supports individuals who have decided to start their own business rather than remain unemployed. Taking such a huge step is challenging for anyone and not something to be entered into without determination, commitment or courage and if you’re also visually impaired, the potential challenges are even greater. BBACT’s role is to offer support, encouragement and advice in order to help make the path into business a little smoother.

BBACT offers a range of services, including a business helpline, training, guidance and business start up and development grants. We don't receive statutory funding and all our activities are paid for with the support of charitable donations and grants.   With this assistance, our community of Blind and Partially Sighted business entrepreneurs is able to make a real contribution to the lives of other visually impaired People and their families by enabling them to gain the confidence and knowledge to get back on their feet.

We would like to thank everybody who has assisted us to date.  In particular, we are very grateful to all those who run each year for us in the London Marathon and last year, they helped us to raise over £13,000.
